  • In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

Sometimes described as the test tube baby procedure, IVF gets its name from the fact that fertilization occurs outside the body, in a laboratory dish. Drugs are given to the women to induce many eggs. These eggs are then collected by ultrasound scan through the vagina under local anesthetic and sedation with a hospital stay of 3-4 hours. Eggs and sperms get mixed together in a dish and are left in an incubator for at least 48 hours before being inserted into the uterus like a routine examination.

  • Sperm Recovery

In cases where there is no sperm in the ejaculate, sperm can be recovered by needle aspiration through the epididymis (PESA) or from the testis (TESA) or a small piece of tissue can be taken by a miniature cut (Biopsy) especially if there is only the immature form of sperm present (spermatide).

  • Intra Uterine Insemination (IUI)

IUI is widely used as a front line assisted reproduction technique for the treatment of unexplained infertility and in some cases of difficulty encountered with intercourse. At the time of ovulation, sperm concentrate is slowly injected into the uterus via a sterile catheter. The procedure is virtually painless and the patient will be sent home after 20-30 minutes.
