Details

Founded in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in 1978 by Dr. Soliman Fakeeh, the Dr Soliman Fakeeh Hospital (DSFH) has been a true leader in the field, whose pioneering spirit and visionary resolve has – for over three decades – advanced by leaps the standards of healthcare delivery in the Kingdom and in the region.

In 1986, the first expansion of the Hospital was inaugurated by His Majesty, the late King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz. In addition to doubling the facility’s inpatient capacity, that expansion introduced such new centres as open-heart surgery and new clinics, including neurosurgery, neurology, nephrology and infertility clinics, and established DSFH as a definitive leader of private healthcare in the Kingdom.

In Vitro Fertilization Lab

  • Advanced Semen Analysis according to WHO Regulations 1999 and 2003
  • Testicular Sperm Retrieval from azoospermic patients. Microsurgically retrieved samples are estimated, processed for proper sperm search using two inverted microscopes equipped with an advanced optic system.
  • Ejaculated sperm processing in artificial insemination husband procedures.
  • Treatment of infertile couple through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) or Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). The procedure includes:
Male: ejaculated, epididymal or testicular sperm processing. Selection of the best morphologically normal spermatozoa.
Female: Oocyte retrieval under general anesthesia
Oocyte decoronization, oocyte grading, oocyte injection with sperm and follow up of fertilized eggs “zygotes” and “embryos”.
  • Transfer of selected good embryos to the wife.
  • Cryopreservation of sperms, zygotes and embryos using specific cryoprotectants and using liquid nitrogen as reservoir.

Andrology Unit

The andrology unit, established in 1992, was the first of its kind in the Kingdom. The unit deals with and treats:

  • Male infertility: medical and surgical management
  • Male sexual dysfunctions: medical and surgical management
  • Testosterone deficiency syndrome
  • Sexually transmitted diseases
  • In addition, all kinds of assisted reproductive techniques are being practiced at the unit in collaboration with the IVF lab.

The andrology unit at DSFH has gained national and international recognition because of:

  • Having seen around 20,000 patients and having performed more than 1500 surgical procedures for the management of male infertility and erectile dysfunction.
  • Its international publications and regular contributions to the Journal of sexual medicine, Sexologies Journal and International journal of impotence research.
  • Sponsorship of an international conference for andrological diseases at DSFH in 2007
  • Organizing Men’s Health Week in Saudi Arabia in June 2007 (the 1st time in an Arab country) to promote public awareness in all aspects of Men’s Health.
  • Publishing “Adam’s Health Magazine” which is dedicated to patient education and men’s health awareness and addressing the Saudi male population.

Some of the clinic procedures performed include:

  • Intracorporal injection testing
  • Doppler penile vessels
  • Doppler for varicocele
  • Biothesiometry
  • Cavernosometry
  • Rigiscan
  • Cautery for warts
